THE KLF HINT AT COMEBACK WITH CRYPTIC VIDEO

The KLF have shared a new video which suggests the anarchic duo may return at some point this year.

Built from chopped up pop culture imagery, the 46-minute clip was first shown in 2015 at a special KLF event in Bristol. 

Titled, KLF 01 01 2017 WTF FOUND VHS, the film is accompanied by a cryptic message, referencing various points in the outfit's history, including their infamous 1994 stunt, in which they burnt £1 million.

The text ends with "2017-1994 = 23", which KLF fans will recognise as a number the pair repeatedly returned to throughout their work due to it's importance in numerology (they've previously referenced it in lyrics, performed for 23 minutes only during a 1997 reunion, and — perhaps most importantly now — at the time of burning the £1 million, mentioned a contract preventing them from talking about it for 23 years.)

The KLF formed in 1987, and quickly made a name for themselves with their avant-garde blend of hip-hop and electronic music. This gives their potential return even more significance, as 2017 marks the band's 30th anniversary. Furthermore, eclectic selector DJ Food also mentions the group in his end of year blog post, adding "The return of the KLF?..." as one of his things to look forward to this year.
