Korg has released the iWAVESTATION app based on its infamous WAVESTATION synth from the ‘90s. The app is for iPad/iPhone users and revisits the sounds that worked their way onto many a dancefloor killer from the glory days of digital synths.
The sound and functions of the app are taken directly from the original WAVESTATION itself, it has to be said that the original WAVESTATION was a beast to program, but with the new app this has all been simplified. Now users can obtain the diverse sounds of wave sequencing directly on their iPad/iPhone.
This app version of the instrument includes a vast number of presets and waveforms, covering all models of the series: WAVESTATION, WAVESTATION EX, WAVESTATION A/D, and WAVESTATION SR. The six optional PCM and program cards that were highly-acclaimed by users at the time, as well as the KLC card that was newly added with the KORG Legacy Collection, are also included, bringing the total to more than 1,500 preset sounds, more than 700 waveforms, and 55 effects. These can all be bought as in-app purchases.
The second offering is the iKaossilator app. The original iOS version became an enormous hit when it was released in 2011, and now it's finally available as an Android app. KORG Kaossilator for Android is a synthesizer app that lets producers enjoy full-fledged instrumental performance simply by freely moving their finger across the touch panel. There is a wide selection of sounds from electronic to acoustic instruments and drums, that can all be played with a single finger. There is also a sequencer to aid in song creation.
