KORG’S PLUGKEY BLOWS IOS PRODUCTION WIDE OPEN

It rolls a number of functions into a mini sound card for iPad or iPhone...

Korg has announced details of its plugKEY sound card, a mini device that allows iPad and iPhone users to plug a keyboard or MIDI controller into their device, as well as having separate speaker and headphone outputs for audio monitoring.

The Japanese company’s device has studio quality ¼” jacks that can also be used to plug into a mixing desk, as well as a microUSB port, which allows users to charge their device as they work. It plugs into iPad and iPhone using a lightning connector.

The Korg plugKEY essentially does what different iOS mini widgets before it have done, but rolls them into one tiny device, and looks set to blow portable production on iPad and iPhone wide open.

The images below demonstrate the scope of the Korg plugKEY in a number of studio set ups. You can get more details about it on the Korg website.
