LÅPSLEY RELEASES VIDEO FOR DJ KOZE’S EDIT OF ‘OPERATOR’

One of the biggest tracks of this summer is without a doubt DJ Koze’s edit of Låpsley’s ‘Operator’ — and its now been given the video treatment.

Lapsley has today unveiled the video for ‘Operator’, which has been conceptualised by Holly ‘Låpsley’ Fletcher herself and directed by Cherise Payne, who previously directed videos for ‘Love Is Blind’, ‘Hurt Me’ and ‘Brownlow’.

"The video Is inspired by an amazing night after my first ever Berlin show, when a group of friends took me out and introduced me to the city’s drag scene,” explains Låpsley.

“That night’s stayed with me ever since and I wanted to pay homage and say thank you — this video’s as much for that scene as it is for me. Berlin’s also the city that first embraced Koze’s brilliant Operator edit so I wanted to return there to make the video, and try and create something that feels really timeless.”

Speaking about his edit, DJ Koze said: “When I heard Låpsley´s 'Operator' for the first time, I thought that it was unique and perfect and didn't need a remix at all, but what I could imagine was in fact a 10 minute-lasting, slowly unwrapping-itself version in a Larry Levan style, playing and dubbing around with the original stems, providing some gimmicks while imagining the moon with the spoon in the Studio 54”.

‘Operator’ is taken from Låpsley’s highly-acclaimed debut album 'Long Way Home', which was released at the start of the year on XL Recordings and also featuring previous singles ‘Hurt Me’, ‘Love Is Blind’, ‘Painter’ and ‘Station’.
