Lawrence English, Lucrecia Dalt, Jim O’Rourke, more contribute to charity compilation for Athens-based refugee charity

Incredible music for a great cause...

A new compilation is raising money for a refuge squat in Athens, Greece.

The squat, City Plaza Hotel, is organized for and by migrants from Africa and Asia, and all funds raised from the release will support City Plaza Hotel's “struggle to provide material needs for those fleeing economic, environmental, political and military disasters in their home countries," according to the compilation description on Bandcamp.

The ‘CRXSSINGS’ fundraiser compilation features over 34 tracks from a wide range of artists, including Mark Fell, Lucrecia Dalt, Jan Jelinek, Mira Calix, Mads Emil Nielsen, Jim O'Rourke, Christina Vantzou, Jerusalem In My Heart, Ipek Gorgun, Klara Lewis, and Lawrence English.

“This compilation in no way claims to represent the voices of refugees and migrants, nor does it represent the scores of incredible musicians from the Middle East, North Africa or Central America whose communities are being disrupted by mass migration,” the Bandcamp description continues. “Rather, the artists participating in this compilation recognize that their lives and art have benefitted from the relative ease with which they are able to move across borders, performing for international audiences and developing relationships across cultures.”
