LISTEN TO ELIJAH SIMMONS’ SUBLIME FRESH KICKS MIX

Immerse yourself in the London DJ/producer’s sonic explorations...

Elijah Simmons has been on the ascendancy since Blond:ish picked up his ‘Otavio’s Dream’ for their Flying Circus compilation in 2014, the skittering rhythms and glorious vocals of his rework of 40s Romanian folk singer Maria Tanase’s ‘Dojna’ a doozy for DJs looking for leftfield tracks primed for the dancefloor.

The Londoner’s debut EP, ‘Pisces’, followed a year later through Kompakt Exkusiv, earning plays on both Phil Taggart and Solomun’s BBC Radio 1 shows, before the driving bassline and the kaleidoscopic textures of ‘Migdal David’ landed on Biologic Records.

He’s subsequently landed a residency with PIXI in Athens, as well as playing recent shows alongside Tale of Us, Mano le Tough, DJ Tennis and many more. He also curates his bimonthly east London party HYDE, alongside being part of the Full Circle crew, a series of off-location parties split between Athens and Sofia.

On deck, Simmons has become known for his explorations of house and techno, littered with intermittent hints of world music and psychedelia. And his Fresh Kicks mix is on much the same tip, blending tracks from Patrice Baumel, Hot Chip, John Talabot, Red Axes, Inigo Kennedy and many more.
