London club Mick's Garage to remain open for foreseeable future

'We ain't going anywhere. Not just yet'

London club Mick's Garage is to remain open for the foreseeable future.

The Hackney Wick venue will close one day because of development planned before it opened - but the owner's say it will remain open for the foreseeable future.

The good news was revealed in a post on their new blog and website Mick’s Mag

On the site, booker, programmer and head of events Adam Glover reflects on his first 12 months at Mick's Garage.

He says: “I am asked the question ‘but I thought Mick’s Garage was getting knocked down at some point?’ on an almost weekly basis - and the answer is in theory, yes. But when that will happen? Nobody knows.

“We’re all just cracking on over here, and across Hackney Wick in general. We’re all too busy building our venue to worry.

“At points, the threat of the wrecking ball hangs heavily over our heads here at Mick’s Garage - but we ain’t going anywhere. Not just yet.

“Realistically, it’s going to be some years before these scruffy warehouse walls get knocked down, likely to be replaced by some fancy, shiny, new apartment block.

“Developers form an orderly queue, please, we know you want a piece of this. It is a fate that’s been sewn into the venue since before the space became the warehouse of a brewery and subsequently an events space.

“But for the meantime, the only ball you’ll see around these parts is our massive mirror ball; one of the few permanent club features residing in our warehouse."
