London is getting a new open-air club, Dockyards

A new open-air events space, Dockyards, is set to open in London later this year.

The brainchild of Broadwick Live – the company behind Printworks and The Drumsheds in London, as well as Manchester's Depot Mayfield – it will be located in the East London area of Silvertown Quays on the bank of the River Thames. The venue will cover 400,000 sq ft of land.

The venue is set to host year-round events, covering music and other culture, and will also be made available as a space for film production and brand experiences, among other purposes.

Dockyards will open later this year with an event put together by Defected. Taking place from 3rd-4th September, the line-up for the event is yet to be revealed.

The following weekend, from 10th-11th September, Above & Beyond will take over with the Group Therapy Weekender, featuring a line-up that will also be announced in the coming months.

Bradley Thompson, Group Managing Director of Broadwick Live, said of the new venture: "We're really excited to open Dockyards, creating a new centre of cultural gravity for London in the heart of The Royal Docks.

"Dockyards will shape the area through cultural and commercial innovation by bringing a year round programme of events and activities in partnership with the world’s best. As a Broadwick Live venue, visitors and artists are assured of a world-class experience, while we also deliver meaningful impact for the area and local communities."

More Dockyards events will be announced in the coming months. Find out more about the venue here.

Another of Broadwick Live's venues, The Drumsheds in North London, closed permanently at the start of this year.
