Martin Garrix pens moving open letter to the LBGTQ community

"When people unite and stand up for other people's rights it creates such a beautiful and powerful message..."

Top 100 DJs winner Martin Garrix has penned an impassioned open letter to the LBGQT community in honour of Pride month.

The open letter — which was published in Billboard as part of their Pride month love letters series — tells of a personal story of how his home country of Holland came together to support two gay men in the wake of an assault, and explains how this event in particular showed him that unity can "create such a beautiful and powerful message."

"Whenever I'm on stage it makes me so happy to see all these different people in the crowd having fun together," he writes. "Music really unites people and no matter who tries to get in our way, it will always continue to do so.

"This Pride month I'm sending my love and immense gratitude to the entire LGBTQ community which includes my friends, colleagues, fellow artists, and of course my incredibly loyal fans."

Martin Garrix has announced that an all-ages show will take place at Amsterdam’s RAI venue during Amsterdam Dance Event on 20th and 21st October.
