MEO Sudoeste festival locks Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, Jamiroquai, more

Plus music from Afrojack, Marshmello and loads more...

Taking over the Zambujeira do Mar resort in scorching hot Alentejo, southern Portugal, MEO Sudoeste — or simply Sudoeste to its dedicated followers — will begin welcoming attendees to the campsite from 30th July, with music set to kick off from 1st to 5th August, and facilities still in place until 8PM the following evening.

The marathon summer session is now in its 21st year, and looks set to build on its already-established reputation for incredible production and sounds. DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs 2016 winner, Martin Garrix, headlines on 4th August, and rates the festival as one of the finest in the world, which is a good enough recommendation for us. Other big guns set to play include fellow EDM types Marshmello and DJ Snake, who both arrive 3rd August, and Afrojack, who will be in the booth on closing night.

Elsewhere in the main stage lineup you’ll find resurgent funk popsters Jamiroquai, who returned in March with 'Automaton', their first album in seven years. Lil’ Wayne will make his Portuguese debut appearance at the event, with another nu-hip-hop don, Mac Miller, also involved.

Those looking for something a little more homegrown won’t be disappointed, either, as the LG Stage and Moche X Spot Stage showcase some of the best the country has to offer, with the latter combining two of Lisbon’s most popular parties. The site itself sounds more than decent, too, so expect an entire area dedicated to performing arts, free WiFi, communal kitchens so you can cook actual food, and a river beach for cold chilling. Not bad for €105, including camping; just don’t forget the suncream.
