MEXICAN AUTHORITIES CONFIRM FIVE DEAD AND 10 REMAIN IN HOSPITAL AFTER THE BPM FESTIVAL SHOOTINGS

Identities are still to be confirmed...

Following The BPM Festival’s official statement earlier today (Monday 16th January), Mexican authorities have now confirmed that five people have died following the shootings at the event in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, according to Reuters.

The gunfire took place at Elrow’s closing party at the Blue Parrot nightclub during The BPM Festival.

Quintana Roo State Attorney General Miguel Angel Pech is said to have confirmed at a press conference this afternoon that two Canadians, an Italian and a Colombian were killed. He also reportedly verified that a woman died in the stampede to exit the club.

Speaking at the press conference Pech said that the incident started when an individual entered the Blue Parrot nightclub at 3am local time. When another person tried to stop the individual, it sparked a gunfight that drew in security staff.

Pech is said to have added that along with the five fatalities, 15 people were injured, whilst 10 remain in hospital. Identities are still to be confirmed. We will bring more details as they follow.
