Michael Bibi has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Taking to Instagram, the DJ, producer and Solid Grooves founder told fans he'd received a diagnosis of central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma, a cancer that affects the spine and brain, and has been hospitalised for treatment.

He initially visited doctors last month due to health problems that he was facing and believed at the time to be related to tinnitus. However, after visiting doctors and undergoing tests, he was given the cancer diagnosis.

Writing on Instagram, Bibi said: "Hello world, writing this post is a hard one. Last week, I was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma, a very rare cancer that effects the brain and spine. Unfortunately it's moving fast and l to have to stay in hospital starting treatment immediately.

"Typing this message doesn't quite seem real and I'm sorry for the bad news. I don't know what lies ahead. I'm tired but I know I am strong and I won't let this beat me. Wish me luck and I will be back stronger for you all. Love Bibi."

A number of DJs have offered their support on his social media post, with Bibi's Solid Grooves label co-founder PAWSA writing: "You always achieved anything that you set your mind to, you are the strongest person i know, we are all behind you Michael you got this. love you my brother."

Jamie Jones also offered his support, writing: "Sending you love and positivity and praying for your speedy recovery my brother. I feel in my heart you will get to the other side of this. Stay strong like I know you to be."

Having founded Solid Grooves as a party brand over a decade ago, Bibi has gone on to release records via the Solid Grooves imprint from himself, PAWSA, Dennis Cruz, Leftwing & Kody, and Skream, among others. He's also put out records through the labels Snatch! and Repopulate Mars, with the latter releasing one of his best-known tracks to date, 'Hanging Tree', in 2018.
