Mighty Mouse, Glitterbox-affiliated DJ and producer, dies

DJ, producer and Glitterbox affiliate Mighty Mouse has died.

Defected Records announced the news on social media Tuesday, 25th October, saying the DJ, real name Matthew Ward, "died suddenly last Thursday [20th October] at his home in Spain". The statement said the cause of death was an aortic aneurysm, which happened in his sleep.

"We are all lost without his enormous presence and talent," Defected wrote. "Our thoughts are with his partner, Ellen, and his mum, Judy, as well as his wider family and many, many friends and fans."

From the UK, Ward had been active as a DJ and producer since the 2000s, releasing on labels like Mindless Boogie, History Records and Cheaper Thrills Records. He is perhaps best known for his 2018 single for Glitterbox titled 'The Spirit', and his 2011 'Not So Official Edit Type Thingy' EP got a viral bump in 2019 when Folamor played his ABBA edit of 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!' called 'Midnight Mouse'. He often played at London's XOYO and The Nest, Newcastle's The Lofts and Glitterbox parties in Ibiza.

Last week, Ward announced his latest Mighty Mouse remix of Inaya Day's 'Like You'.
