"We want it to become a hub for our community every first Saturday of the month," said Pickle Factory's creative director Toby Wareham

A new monthly second-hand record fair is set for East London.

From 2pm to 9pm on the first Saturday of every month, Cambridge Heath venue The Pickle Factory and its sister space Canvas will host a rotating selection of record shops, individuals selling from their Discogs collection and, according to organisers, "friends with collections we’d love to have a dig through ourselves”.

Launching on Saturday, 8th April, the fair's will initially host four stalls: House of Dog, Rubber Ducky, Piers Harrison and Toby Tobias, and Loose and Bizarre Trax.

The first outing will also include sets from residents Bizarre Trax and Loose, as well as duo Mother Earth. There will also be food and drink available from a number of independent sellers at the space's adjoining cocktail bar.

As well as secondhand records, the fair's launch on Saturday, 8th April will include Manchester's 20K and a dead sheep, which focuses on rare books on rave culture. In a statement, the Pickle Factory's creative director Toby Wareham spoke of his hopes for the fair to encompass more than just selling vinyl.

"As a London-based digger myself, I find the city lacks a regular second-hand market like this, and I can't wait to buy (and sell) some records here," he said. "But just as importantly, because it's also a day party, and a Saturday hangout with lovely food and drinks, we want it to become a hub for our community every first Saturday of the month."

Tickets for the first outing for the Pickle & Canvas fair are on sale now, priced at £4 (£5 on the door). Organisers will donate £1 from each ticket to Hackney Night Shelter.

News of the fair comes a month on from the announcement of The Pickle Factory's latest venue redevelopment.
