Movement Detroit locks Diplo, Nina Kraviz, Helena Hauff, more

Memorial Day plans now set...

Movement Detroit has foregone the multiple waves of artist announcements for one mass drop. Diplo, Nina Kraviz, Helena Hauff, Claude VonStroke and Ellen Allien are among those supplying the grooves at Detroit’s Hart Plaza over the extended Memorial Day weekend.

Organized by Paxahau, which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2018, the festival will once again host an array of global electronic music talents across five stages. The Paxahau team have hinted at “new designs and elements” for the celebratory year.

Hip-hop icons Wu-Tang Clan will also be celebrating when they close down the event on Monday evening; their 25th anniversary as a fierce collective.

Others set to perform include Loco Dice b2b The Martinez Brothers to close down the Main Stage on Sunday night, KiNK, Marcel Dettmann, Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Dubfire, Modeselektor, Tiga, Ida Engberg, Justin Martin, J. Phlip, REZZ and Mija.

The curatorial team has once again enlisted some of Detroit’s finest for techno week: Kevin Saunderson, Mike Huckaby, Marshall Applewhite, DJ Godfather, Ectomorph, Bevlove and DJ Holographic.

Diplo responded to criticisms of his selection head-on, humorously tweeting about playing the fest back in 2012 “before u got lost at burning man on ketamine and googled the Belleville three on your southwest flight back to Minnesota” and his planned  “alt-country” set.

Movement Detroit runs Saturday 26th May through Monday 28th May. Tickets are available here. The full artist line-up can be seen below.
