Netflix announce series on Spotify's origin story

The series will focus on Spotify co-founders Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon

The story behind Spotify is set to be explored in a new streaming series.

Announced yesterday (11th), an untitled project focusing on Swedish Spotify co-founders Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, will be forthcoming on Netflix. Directed by Yellow Bird UK, the script will be based on the book Spotify Untold by authors and reporters Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud.

The news follows Spotify's announcement last month that the streaming service would be launching its own awards show, with the first ceremony in Mexico on the 5th March 2020.

In October, Spotify shared a letter with their shareholders containing recent user data, revealing that their paid subscribers have reached 113 million.

The release date for the untitled project has yet to be announced.
