New compilation and book to celebrate legacy of electro pioneers, Drexciya

The 12-track compilation is available now

Gentrified Underground have released a 12-track compilation, 'Bubble Chamber', and a 56-page book celebrating the work of Drexciya.

The tracks on 'Bubble Chamber' were all released between 1982 and 2019, and aim to show the reach and influence of Detroit duo Drexciya, comprised of James Stinson and Gerald Donald.

An extension to the Bubble Chamber exhibition, tracks on the compilation come courtesy of Xor Gate, Kuldaboli, and Plant43, and the booklet features work from Abdul Qadim Haqq, Charlie Mills, chukwumaa, and Dominiqueh White.

"More than twenty years after their first release, the sonic fictions produced by Drexciya, the Detroit based electronic duo founded by James Stinson and Gerald Donald at the start of the 1990s, continues to enthral contemporary cultural practitioners," theorist Kodwo Eshun says of the duo's legacy. "By reimagining the Transatlantic Slave Trade as a fiction of enforced mutation, the Drexciya mythos opened, and continues to open, a speculative space for the reimagining of the posthuman condition, and for questions of becoming, origin and mutation in relation to capitalism, finance and futurity."
