New York club Nowadays to host live-streamed “virtual parties” this weekend

All streams will be free and openly accessible to the public

New York club Nowadays will host live-streamed “virtual parties”.

Virtually Nowadays is a new, nightly livestream from the Ridgewood club, which launched with some broadcasts at the beginning of the week, and will now host a run of live sets from DJs. The club is currently closed due to the global coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic.

Tonight (19th March), Virtual Thursday will welcome Jasmine Infiniti, with GIA, before DJ Python and Halal on Friday. Over the weekend, performances will come courtesy of Jubilee, Physical Therapy, and Mister Sunday & Soul Summit Music.

"Welcome to Virtually Nowadays. Even though our doors are closed for the foreseeable future, we want to stay connected with our community and give Nowadays a chance of surviving through these unprecedented times," the Nowadays event page reads. "Virtually Nowadays is a nightly live stream from Nowadays that'll run between 8pm and midnight. We'll feature DJ sets, gear tutorials and/or discussions on topics relevant to our world (or a combination of all three). They’ll be broadcast live and direct at nowadays.nyc/stream."

All the live streams are free and openly accessible to the public, and an archive can be viewed by subscribing to Nowadays' Patreon page.

Earlier this week, Berlin collective Room 4 Resistance has shared an informative document to help people navigating coronavirus. The party starting group, which is focused on community-building and the creation of safer spaces, has compiled information on a Google Doc, which includes signposts for services and organisations offering support.
