NORTH AMERICA’S LATEST VINYL PRESSING PLANT TO OPEN IN AUGUST

Promises to turn around small orders in 6-8 weeks...

A new vinyl pressing plant will be opening in Burlington, Canada next month and it hopes to ease the pressure on independent labels who require a quick turnaround for small runs of vinyl.

Started by Gerry McGhee  who used to be in Canadian rock band Brighton Rock in the 80s  the former musician is clearly no stranger to making records.

McGhee is also sympathetic to independent artists and labels who want to press vinyl runs of just 200-300 with a quick turnaround.

“We are filling orders in 8-10 weeks. Our goal is that when we’re at full capacity in Burlington it’ll be 6-8 weeks. It’ll be a game-changer for plants around the world when we go to that kind of delivery time,” McGhee told FYIMusic.

McGhee remain tightlipped about which record will be first off the press in August, but did say “there’ll be an announcement pretty soon about the first record we’re pressing and what band it is. There’ll be a documentary done on it, plus a press conference from the plant.”

He's pledged to make Canadian clients the initial priority, but is anticipating doing business with US labels, including the majors. “That is why we are talking about doubling our size. The weak Canadian dollar always helps exports.”
