Uganda's Nyege Nyege Tapes has launched a new mixtape series.
The first is titled 'At The Villa' and features a number of artists from the label's roster as well as some of the guests that appeared at 2018's Nyege Nyege festival. It was recorded at Nyege Nyege's studios in Kampala over the course of the two weeks that followed last year's event, and sees Tanzanian singeli artists Jay Mitta and Sisso collaborating with PAN artist Errorsmith and Glasgow act The Modern institute.
The tape consists of two sides, and features collaborations and remixes by all four artists. The Modern Institute are responsible for mixing both sides of the tape.
It's limited to 150 copies which are available now via Boomkat. A digital release featuring nine tracks from the tape will also be released.
You can listen to The Modern Institute and Jay Mitta's 'Rave Remix' from the tape below.
Earlier this year, Nyege Nyege Tapes released a compilation exploring the history of electric acholi, while the label's Hakuna Kulala offshoot also recently teamed up with Shanghai-based label SVBKVLT for a pair of releases featuring Slikback, Hyph11E, 33EMYBW, and more.
