PIEM COOKS UP A STORMING DJ MAG WEEKLY PODCAST: LISTEN

Banging!

Piem has been on our radar for a while, and we're delight to have finally locked him down for our DJ Mag Weekly Podcast series.

His collaboration with Vidaloca on Leftwing & Kody's Lost label first drew us in, and since then he's made some killer tracks with Glasgow Underground faves, Spencer K & Vangelis Kostoxenakis, for the likes of Knee Deep In Sound and Clarisse.

He's got a new release coming with the Scottish cult label next month — look out for his new banging two-tracker 'Together' coming on 17th March.

In the meantime, he's cooked up an epic mix for the DJ Mag Weekly Podcast, which you can listen to right here, right now!

Don't miss our quickfire interview and mix tracklist with Piem below.

First dance music song you loved?
"'Sueño Latino' — that was and still is one of my favourite dance music tracks ever."

First club you went to?
"L'altlantida In Sitges. I think I was only 16 as I had started trying to party before I was legally allowed. That was like the summer meeting point for a number of years."

First piece of tech you bought?
"My first bit of equipment I bought was two Technics turntables and a Ecler two-channel mixer, but if we are talking for production it was Maschine from NI."

First DJ you worshipped?
"The legend that is Felix Da Housecat was the man! But I'd also like to mention Sideral, because he was an icon in my town and absolutely had a huge influence in leading me down this career path."

First club you played in?
"First club was Danzatoria in '02 at the age of eighteen, then I made my debut at Club Catwalk and Pacha Sitges. Before I got my chance to play at proper clubs I used to play at some small bars in Barcelona, they were only small parties but I still have some really good and memorable events from those events."

First wax you bought?
"Soul Vision 'Don't Stop'"

First band you saw?
"Unfortunately it was the Spice girls, I had to take my little sister there, honestly it was fun anyway."

First apartment you lived in?
"My first apartment other than my parents home was back in 2004 in Ibiza for the summer season with couple of friends from Barcelona, that was an experience. Apartment was nice by the way!"

First vinyl shop you loved?
"My favourites were Scifi and Veleta both in Barcelona, they had always good stuff and I would be there for hours just digging for tracks Sadly they both closed few years ago."

First London club you loved?
"First club in London I ever knew of was Ministry Of Sound, the brand was very popular here in Barcelona, I've been fortunate to play some gigs in London at 93 Feet East and Lightbox and have visited some other clubs in London but I have to say that MoS is also my favourite and I hope one day I get to test my sound out on their incredible system."

First album you played ten times over?
"Julio Iglesias 'Hey!'"

First time you went to Ibiza?
"I was 18 and went for a week with my friends, can't describe with words that experience — my best memories are of Carry On and Benirras! Without a doubt Ibiza is the magical island of dreams, it's a vibrant inspirational place Ibiza helped to inspire my partner and I to create our TrustNobody podcast series."
