Pikes Ibiza founder, Anthony Pike, has died

The founder of the White Isle's most iconic hotel had been battling cancer...

Anthony Pike, founder of the legendary Ibiza hotel and party spot, Pikes Ibiza, has died.

The news was shared last night (24th February) via the venue’s official Facebook page. A full statement is expected to be released later today.

In July 2018, Pike launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for urgent cancer treatment. At the time, he wrote, "I am 84 years old, and I have prostate cancer and skin cancer. People think I am a multimillionaire because the hotel is sold. The opposite is true."

Originally opened by Pike as the San Antonio hotel in the late 1970s, the hotel earned its reputation as the original home of the Ibiza house party throughout the 1980s and beyond. The hotel became famous as the location for WHAM's 1983 music video, 'Club Tropicana' as well as a favourite for stars including Freddy Mercury and Grace Jones.
