A posthumous Lee “Scratch” Perry compilation has been announced for September.
'King Scratch (Musical Masterpieces from the Upsetter Ark-ive)' arrives on 2nd September via Trojan Records, shortly after the first anniversary of the late dub pioneer's death, and contains a generous spread of tracks spanning Perry's decades-long career.
Available on double CD, double vinyl, and as a deluxe box set containing 106 tracks split across four discs, the deluxe box set will feature Perry's "best-known and most influential recordings" including a previously unreleased mix of Junior Murvin’s powerful ‘Police And Thieves’, ‘Hurt So Good’ by Susan Cadogan, reggae classic ‘Return Of Django’, as well as a cache of key Jamaican hits.
The CD and LP box sets are accompanied by an illustrated book featuring an essay by the Perry biographer and reggae historian David Katz.

In August last year, Perry sadly passed away in hospital in his Jamaican homeland, releasing a final track, the Ral Ston collaboration 'No Bloody Friends', just weeks before his death. The song followed shortly after his last album, 'Lee Scratch Perry's Guide to the Universe', made with New Age Doom.
A new documentary celebrating the life and legacy of the Jamaican icon was released earlier this year. 'The Upsetter: The Life & Music of Lee "Scratch" Perry' is available to watch on the subscription-based Criterion Channel.
