The legendary 'Purple Rain' singer has died…

Legendary performer Prince (real name: Prince Rogers Nelson) has died, TMZ reports.

The 57-year-old music icon was found dead at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota, this morning, according to the celebrity news website. Prince’s publicist has now confirmed the news via Associated Press.

Prince was rushed to hospital last week, after his pilot was forced to make an emergency landing to take the singer to hospital — he was said to have had the flu.

Prince is best known for his 1984 hit album ‘Purple Rain’, that spawned a cult film of the same name, and has released 39 studios albums over his career.
