The Quietus calls for donations: 'It'll be all over by Christmas'

The rightly-revered music site needs you

The Quietus is calling on donations to survive beyond the end of the year, warning that without a cash injection from its loyal readers 'it'll be all over by Christmas' for the highly-respected website.

The sad news comes as the online magazine- currently Europe's largest fully-independent digital music outlet- celebrates it ninth birthday. A combination of falling digital ad revenues, which have dropped across the board by an average of 90% year-on-year, and profits being soaked up by the likes of Google and Facebook have been blamed for the domain hitting troubled waters.

Launched in 2008 by John Doran, who remains editor, The Quietus lays claim to a prestigious history- winning Student Publication Choice in its first year, and then Best Digital Publication 12 months later at the Record of the Day Awards. It has previously ranked in The Independent newspaper's Top 25 Music Websites. Those interested in lending some support should click here for the full, and typically eloquent explantion of the situation, where they will also find the first episode of The Quietus Day of Radio, featuring snooker legend-turned-techno head Steve Davis, who played for DJ Mag Live in 2016, and British-Iranian multi-instrumentalist and composer, Kavus Torabi.
