REPORTS SHOW 136 PERCENT INCREASE IN RAPE IN LONDON VENUES

Conviction rate only stands at 5.7 percent...

According to a report published by Broadly, incidents of rape in London pubs, clubs and bars rose by 136 percent between 1st April 2011 and 31st March 2016.

The Metropolitan Police put the figure at a 119 percent increase over the same period.

This year alone there have been 52 cases of rape filed in London — double the number between 2011 and 2012. Reports of sexual assault have also more than doubled in the past five years, with 358 reports of sexual offences at entertainment venues serving alcohol from 2015-2016.

Meanwhile, arrests have only risen by 90 percent for rape and 66 percent for other sexual offences over the past year, yet there is no information on how many of these resulted in a guilty verdict. The current conviction rate for rape is around 5.7 percent.
