RepresentAsian announces debut Bristol club night with RISHI, DJ Adveevah and Yusuf Suave

The RepresentAsian crew have announced their debut Bristol club night.

The inaugural edition will be held at The Crofters Rights on 18th February, with Booty Bass member and ballroom, vogue, UK funky, and baile funk specialist DJ Adeevah and Brown Excellence and no_one artist RISHI confirmed to play, alongside co-founder Yusuf Suave. Tickets are on sale now

Launched in 2021, RepresentAsian began life as a podcast series dedicated to spotlighting the contribution of South Asian professionals in the UK music industry, and address representation issues. It was established by booking agent, promoter, DJ and radio host Suave and his sister, Safiya Bashir, who works as a culture journalist.

"For too long, South Asian people have been on the fringes of the UK music scenes," said Safiya. "The dance music industry is severely whitewashed and we spent our whole lives assuming that South Asian music was restricted to Bollywood or Bhangra. Growing up, I could never picture a South Asian DJ headlining a festival or club night that I would attend."
