Robert Hood to DJ and preach at a church in Berlin next month

It’s all happening ahead of a gig at Tresor...

Detroit techno pioneer Robert Hood will be pulling a double shift at a Berlin church next month as part of an event that will see him DJ and preach.

Taking place at Kreuzberg’s St Thomas Kirche, the DJ, who is also an ordained minister, will perform and preach at the event between 7pm and 9pm on Friday, November 9, ahead of an appearance later that night at Tresor. It’s not ticketed but the church is encouraging donations.

Hood’s music has crossed paths with his faith on numerous occasions before, particularly in the gospel influences found across his Floorplan project. Speaking to Rolling Stone in 2016, he said: “God literally told me, ‘I want you to put a gospel message in the music.”

The DJ is also currently gearing up to release his contribution to the DJ-Kicks compilation series which will be released on November 16 via !K7 Records while he also recently spoke to DJ Mag about why voting in the US midterm elections is essential.
