Roland's brand-new SH-101 Boutique synth has allegedly been leaked via Instagram

Instagram Story shows blurred image of rumoured new boutique synth...

Roland’s SH-101 is a legendary mono synth and according to the Instagram account of Roland employee Nick de Friez, it may be one of the next synths the Japanese giants release as part of their popular Boutique range of mini classics.

In a now-expired Instagram Story (see image below) and originally spotted by sequencer.de and screen-grabbed by synthanatomy.com, a video appears to show the famous blue casing of the SH-101 in a Boutique form, leading to rumours and speculation of a potential imminent launch. If it’s true, the SH-101 would join the Jupiter-8, Juno-106, JX-3P, TR-808 and 909 in Roland’s Boutique offerings, and would be the first official mono synth clone in the range.

The SH-101 was a house and electronic music classic used by everyone from The Prodigy, Orbital and Aphex Twin to Jimmy Edgar, The Chemical Brothers and Bicep. Roland have been particularly busy of late, adding the classic D-50 synth to their Roland Cloud service and collaborating with Studio Electronics on a new hardware synth the SE-02.
