Rotterdam’s RTM club gets 24-hour licence

It originally opened in September 2019

There's good news for Rotterdam's nightlife scene as recently-opened club RTM has been given a 24-hour licence.

RTM originally opened in September 2019, and until now has been operating with a more restrictive standard bar license, which allows venues in Rotterdam to stay open until 2am, with 13 exceptions from that closure permitted each year when a club can push its closing hours back to 6am.

With a new extended hours licence — the city's main other licence that is open to venues such as cafes, bars, restaurants and clubs — RTM can now stay open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The 24-hour permit given to the club is handed out very rarely in Rotterdam.

The extended licence has taken immediate effect, though RTM has not yet revealed any plans for 24-hour parties in the near future.

RTM is run by the team behind Rotterdam festival Blijdorp, which takes place in August each year.
