Saffron, music tech non-profit tackling gender inequality, launches fundraiser to sustain its work

Saffron, the non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing gender equality within the music industry, has launched a fundraising campaign to help it continue its work.

Together with its Mix Nights programme that offers courses in DJing, Saffron has been working with a specific focus on the music tech sector. The team behind the organisation aim to create safer spaces for marginalised people to learn by giving them advice and access to resources covering music production, DJing and other facets of the music industry.

Saffron needs support to continues its work because, founder Laura Lewis-Paul said, "the cost of living, government arts cuts and lack of sustained funding post-BLM is leaving non-profit organisations like us without the crucial core investment we need to stay afloat".

Launching the fundraiser, the group added: "Over the past few months, a number of other crucial and expected arts grants and income sources for our work in 2023 have not materialised or been cut, and our primary industry donor has departed. This has left us in a tight spot. We are now turning to our community to help get us through the next few months, whilst we embed our longer-term plans to make Saffron sustainable."

You can support Saffron by heading to the group's GoFundMe campaign.

Already this year, Saffron has offered support to marginalised people via workshops featuring rRoxymore, Manuka Honey and others.

The record label arm, Saffron Records, also put out the first single from producer Marla Kether last month.
