SOMMERØYA FESTIVAL FEATURES NORWAY'S LOCAL TECHNO TALENT ALONGSIDE STEPHAN BODZIN, DJ HELL AND MORE

Oslo is about to show the underground techno world what it's got...

Sommerøya is Norway's answer to the summer techno festival circuit, and its 2017 lineup is bringing as many heavy-hitters to Oslo as it is homegrown talent.

Norwegian acts Finnebassen (live set), Of Norway (live set), Della, +plattform and Fredrik Bekkaasen will perform in Oslo on August 18th & 19th, alongside the likes of DJ Hell, Anja Schneider, Rødhåd, KiNK and now confirmed, the German master of live sets, Stephan Bodzin.

Heading into its 8th year, Sommerøya brings underground music together with Norway's wildly eclectic natural landscape. This year's festivities are hosted at Salt Arena, a unique outdoor-indoor travelling venue currently nestled along the Oslo-fjord featuring epic "arctic pyramids" rising 12 meters tall – aka, the traditional fish-drying racks that are a big part of Norwegian heritage.

Anton Solberg, Sommerøya festival manager, says they are honored to have such a rare setting in which to showcase local and international talent alike. "To have the scenery with such primal majestic constructions does something to you.”

The festival will also showcase an art program with over 20 curated artists and groups, a live debate about the challenges of Oslo nightlife featuring the Norwegian culture council, lectures, live jams, tech-talks, and documentary screenings.

"It's going to be magical," says a Sommerøya spokesperson. We don't doubt it.
