Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore has recorded a techno album

Details remain minimal...

Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore will be dropping a techno album under a yet-to-be-disclosed alias. The news comes after Moore bashed the genre as “music for ding-dongs who like to snort coke and try to get laid.”

Moore made the announcement 26th September via the Talkhouse podcast, which happens to be hosted by LCD Soundsystem’s Tyler Pope.

“I don’t want anyone to come to it with any preconceived idea,” Moore discloses about the need for a techno-production alias. “Like, ‘this insufferable idiot just made a techno record?’ Forget about it.”

The move is reminiscent of Arcade Fire’s Win Butler bashing the DJ community before bringing in additional festival earnings via his DJ Windows 98 alias.

DJ Mag will report new details if/when they arrive.
