Andy C will remain at the helm of the imprint..

Sony BMG has made a “strategic” investment in Andy C’s seminal drum and bass label Ram Records to take it “to the next level”.

Andy C will remain in charge alongside his business partner Scott Bourne — but the label will now be bolstered by BMG’s sizeable infrastructure and resources.

The legendary DJ and producer said: “We have worked with lots of companies over the years, but BMG really get it. We have been incredibly impressed by Alexi and her team, and we are very excited at being able to tap into BMG’s infrastructure and resources.”

Founded by in 1992 by Andy C when he was just 16, his initial £1,000 investment has flourished into a huge operation with a proven track record for unearthing chart-topping talent including Chase & Status, Sub Focus and Wilkinson.

BMG UK EVP Alexi Cory-Smith said: “If ever a label could be said to have defined a genre, it’s Ram. We are delighted to be able to help Andy C and Scott take Ram to the next level.”

2016 is already looking like a busy year for the label with Andy C’s aptly named new single, ‘New Era’, set to drop this month alongside albums from Delta Heavy and Calyx & Teebee.
