SoundCloud deletes RinseFM's account and then reinstates it
Classic SoundCloud...
On the same day that SoundCloud founder Alex Ljung declared "your music is safe", the streaming service deleted RinseFM's SoundCloud account and along with it their entire radio archive.
In classic SoundCloud fashion, the service then backtracked over the weekend and reinstated RinseFM's account, including their entire archive.
Thankfully, RinseFM were prepared for such an eventuality and have a backup of their entire radio archive on its website.
It would seem that after an outcry from fans online over the weekend and some discussion between RinseFM and SoundCloud, the music streaming service decided to reinstate RinseFM's account.
The news comes off the back of a bad week for SoundCloud with rumours of its demise making the rounds online after the company laid off 40% of its workforce and closed some of its international offices.
Was nice while it lasted @SoundCloud. Shame to lose so many uploads, but life moves on. And having backups helps pic.twitter.com/tzQOMdFUnO
