Southbank Centre announces DJ collective, SISU, as residents for Concrete Lates

The UK crew celebrate diversity while providing a platform to educate and inspire female DJs and producers

London's Southbank Centre has announced DJ collective Sisu as residents for Concrete Lates.

The crew will begin their tenure at the cultural hub this spring. Describing themselves as "an artistic community providing a platform to educate, inspire and showcase aspiring female DJs and producers through DJ courses, events, radio shows, a mix series and workshops", they have been active in Berlin and the UK since 2017, hosting sessions in London, Liverpool, Newcastle and Bristol.

The organisation's goal is to "keep positively developing our platforms and representing the diversity within the community through our events, conversations, musical output and workshops."

Plans for the new partnership were hatched when founder Sisu Malissa attended a creative careers day at Southbank Centre, where she met the institution's contemporary music programming team — who launched the electronic-focused Concrete Lates series in 2018, which has welcomed the likes of Kiasmos, SHYGIRL, Fatima Al Qadiri and Aïsha Devi since inception, with Plaid and Kelly Lee Owens among the names set to appear in the coming weeks.
