The successor to the legendary Ibiza superclub will open in Italy on Sunday 2nd June

Space Ibiza’s new club announces Carl Cox opening party

Space Ibiza is launching its new nightclub in Riccione, Italy this summer with an opening party headlined by Carl Cox.

The day-to-night event – taking place on Sunday 2nd June – will kick off the global expansion of the Space clubbing institution in Italy’s Eastern Riviera.

Described as a “new generation” club, Space Riccione will embrace the sprawling layout of its Ibizan predecessor, comprising four large areas — the Arena, Garden, Terrace, and Lounge, along with additional private spaces.

“The new era of Space will be a beautiful and unique experience. We’re excited to reveal our vision of a state of the art, club-meets-festival venue,” said Fabrizio De Meis, COO of Space Riccione.

Space Ibiza, the brand’s legendary flagship superclub, closed its doors in 2016 after dominating the international nightlife scene for 27 years. Carl Cox – who will return to headline the new venue’s opening party – helped establish Space as one of the biggest clubs in the world with his 15-year Ibiza residency starting in 2001.

Pepe Roselló, owner of the Space brand, said: “We are happy to continue 27 years of Space Ibiza history here in Riccione, an iconic place that represents entertainment. Love for music and mutual respect, the main characteristics of all our events, will also be central to this new experience, which we all believe in so much.”

Space Riccione’s “opening fiesta” will take place this June, featuring Cox performing a hybrid live set. The club-come-festival venue will continue to welcome the biggest names in electronic music every Saturday throughout the summer. More acts are set to be announced in the coming months.

Space first teased the new venue back in June, sharing on Instagram: “It’s coming” — along with an Italian phrase which translates to “Freedom, transgression, love, diversity, harmony, friendship, empathy, connection and music.”

Rumours of Space reopening have been circulating since its closure in 2016, with the latest in 2021 reporting that Roselló had hinted at a new bar, restaurant, and club night in Ibiza’s San Antonio.

Space Ibiza was named the World’s No. 1 Club six times in our DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs poll. One of the oldest and largest venues on the White Isle, the institution will expand its legacy on the Italian resort synonymous with entertainment.

Carl Cox was voted winner of the Outstanding Contribution Award in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs 2023.
