Sub Club announces 30th anniversary plans

Parties from April to August...

This year marks Sub Club's 30th anniversary and to celebrate the Glasgow club has announced a series of birthday parties.

Kicking off on April 1st, the club will see long-time residents Harri & Dominec playing all night long on the very day the club opened its doors 30 years ago.

The rest of April's celebrations will feature KiNK (live) (April 8th) and Kerri Chandler (April 15th), whilst The Black Madonna plays on May 6th.

In July, the club shifts its focus to Glasgow's Barrowland Ballroom for a special show from Larry Heard on July 15th.

Then in August, Sub Club will host their own two-day festival, dubbed Sub Club soundsystem, on August 26th where they'll be bringing the likes of Dixon and Maceo Plex to the Glasgow rave cave for a summer knees up.

Speaking about reaching 30 years, Sub Club director Mike Grieve said: "The music still batters the senses, pushing boundaries, constantly reinventing and hopefully setting the tone for what’s coming round the next corner. This is the space where underground clubs really exist, breaking new music, creating new energies, inspiring new ideas, and forging new friendships all along the way.

"The foundation of the Sub has always been built on the resident DJs who helm the key nights, most significantly the massively influential Optimo who’s legendary Sunday weekly spanned an unbroken 13 years without ever booking a guest DJ and, of course, Harri & Domenic who’s Subculture Saturday nighter has now endured for 23 solid years."
