Sudan Archives announces debut album, ‘Athena’

'Athena' is due via Stones Throw on 1st November

Following the release of new single 'Confessions', Sudan Archives has announced her debut full-length record, 'Athena'.

'Athena' is due via Los Angeles-based label Stones Throw Recordings, who have also released music from the likes of J Dilla, Peanut Butter Wolf, and Anderson.Paak and Knxwledge project NxWorries.

On her new record, the violinist, singer, songwriter and producer has collaborated with Washed Out, Paul White and Rodaidh McDonald. On her new record, Brittney Denise Parks AKA Sudan Archives says: "[It's] more in your face, more confrontational - and that's also how I've grown as an artist. I used to be a hermit who would make beats in her bedroom, but now I'm working with other writers, producers and instrumentalists, I've learned how to communicate. It feels like I'm almost back in church."

After the release of 'Athena', Sudan Archives will go on a tour across Europe and the United States.

As an identical twin, Parks has long since been familiar with a feeling of duality, a central theme to the album. In the album's artwork, Sudan Archives presents duality in a simultaneous embracing of vulnerability and power, as she poses as a Greek goddess with her violin.

'Athena' will be released on November 1.
