Threads Radio evicted from studio, announces temporary remote programming

Tottenham-based online radio station Threads Radio has been evicted from its studio.

The eviction means that the station has been forced to cease all live studio broadcasts for the foreseeable future and launch a temporary schedule of remote programming while it considers options for a new studio.

Taking to social media, Threads Radio said: "During our break period, Threads was given unexpected notice to vacate our Tottenham studio sooner than expected, which means that we've not been able to return to full operations this week as planned.

"While we consider our options for a new venue, we won't be running live studio broadcasts. This is a crucial moment for Threads, as we figure out the best way to support the project for years to come, and how we can best serve the communities surrounding it."

While live programming has been halted, Threads has said it will continue with an interim programme of remote and pop-up broadcasts, showcasing residents and communities from London and further afield. The station is also planning monthly socials to hear Threads' residents play out.

The station's statement concluded: "We will miss this oasis amongst the highrises of Tottenham Hale and miss watching the graffiti grow on that iconic studio wall."

Threads Radio launched in early 2019 with its studio housed in the complex that also hosted now closed club The Cause. The station had continued to broadcast from the space even after the club closed at the start of this year due to ongoing property development in the area.
