Tiësto: "Sven Väth was definitely the first DJ that inspired me"

The trance legend has name-checked the Cocoon boss as a huge influence...

Tiësto has called Sven Väth the first DJ that inspired him in a new interview with In The Mix. The trance producer and DJ also stated that more recently, he’s been inspired by everyone from Martin Garrix to Madeon. Speaking ahead of a show Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Tiësto also explained he doesn’t party as much as he used to but “I still go pretty hard on the weekends”.

The biggest changes he’s seen in his 20-plus-years of DJing is the transition in DJ formats, namely from vinyl to SD cards and USB sticks. The studio has seen it’s fair share of transitions too, with producers moving away from analogue. Read the full interview on In The Mix.

Tiësto also recently announced a new show with Steve Angello and Faithless in the UK in May. 20 years clearly isn’t enough for the Dutch DJ – he recently extended his Las Vegas residency to 2020.
