Tommy Boy Records find counterfeit vinyl on Amazon of titles they don't press

The revelation came during last week's Making Vinyl Conference in Los Angeles

Tommy Boy Records have discovered that Amazon is selling counterfeit vinyl of titles they don't even press.

Following a recent study that found that 25% of CDs 'fulfilled by Amazon' are counterfeit, the revelation came during last week's Making Vinyl Conference in Los Angeles.

The president of Tommy Boy Records - who are best known from launching the careers of De La Soul, Queen Latifah, Afrika Bambaataa and more - Rosie Lopez said, "Counterfeit is another issue altogether. Somehow records that Tommy Boy hasn’t pressed in — ever — are on sale on Amazon, that’s a little concerning.”

Cypress Hill's DJ Mugg's personal record collection is up for sale.

Last December, a counterfeit vinyl pressing plant was busted by authorities in Wales.
