ULTRA MUSIC FEST RECORDS OVER 1 MILLION ATTENDEES WORLDWIDE IN 2016

That's a whole lotta raving...

It's no secret that the Ultra Music Festival brand has exploded over the past few years, but few probably realised just how big it's become.

Over the course of 2016, 26 Ultra events were held in 17 countries across five continents, with a total attendence exceeding 1 million people.

This includes sell-out editions of company's Resistance events in Peru, Chile and Paraguay and the inaugural Ultra Brazil. Ultra also report that 165 million people watched the events via the Ultra Live stream on UMF TV.

Ultra Music is now the largest ticketed touring festival in the world, however it was not the first fest to break the 1 million mark. Love Parade — a free event held in Germany — is estimated to have broken the milestone on several occasions, with 1.6 million people attending in 2008.

These kind of numbers do come at a cost however, which Love Parade learned the hard way, having to close permanently in 2010 after a crowd rush tragically killed 21 people and injured 500 more. Ultra is of course broken into lots of smaller events, avoiding the danger of these kind of masses.
