Ultra to return to Miami’s Bayfront Park in 2020

Miami commissioners voted in favour of the festival's return

Ultra Miami will return to Bayfront Park for Ultra 2020.

After months of uncertainty, Miami City Commisioners voted yesterday (25th) to allow Ultra to return to the waterfront, after decreasing the amount of votes needed in order to secure the location.

The meeting of commissioners, who voted in favour of the Bayfront Park return by a margin of three to two, saw divided opinion. Those opposed to the return cited negative impacts on both the environment and the local community, with those in favour stressing the economical and cultural benefits of Ultra at the waterfront location.

Ultra have now confirmed the return to Downtown Miami in a tweet, but alledged license proposals tabled by the city commission could cause problems for the festival. Among the proposals are the introduction of a 10PM Sunday curfew, and payment for police and fire services across the weekend, on top of the $2 million fee to use the space. The proposals also include a reduction in the decibel limit from 110 to 104.

Ultra Miami will run from the 20th to the 22nd March 2020.

In June, it was announced that Ultra Europe would also have to relocate for the next four years.

Ultra Miami was hosted at Virginia Key this year, with the new location causing the festival transportation and organisational issues.
