VirtualDJ 2020 – the latest version of the world's most popular DJing software – has added Beatport LINK capability, allowing users to stream the whole of Beatport's catalogue directly into VirtualDJ. the move comes on the back of VDJ already announcing SoundCloud streaming capability back in April, as streaming for home use at least, continues to take hold.
Other features added to the latest version include new layout options, with beginner to pro arrangements, depending on what you need from the software. There's also a new automatic harmonic mixing function that will key-shift any track so that it's in the same key as the track that's playing. However, it doesn't allow you to wildly pitch-shift – and therefore destroy the fidelity – of any track, it will only allow an auto-shift if the track is within one semitone up or down. Useful for beginners who may be wondering why their loaded track sounds so weird.
There's also an Event Scheduler for wedding or event DJs who need to lineup certain visuals with certain tracks, or want to trigger ads in their mixes for radio etc. The new version is available now for $19 a month subscription for $249 for a lifetime license.
