WIll Smith’s EDM song ‘Get Lit’ gets full release

Although he’s better known for his movies these days, it’s worth remembering that Will Smith has also enjoyed a stellar career in music, with a string of hits to his name such as “Just The Two of Us”, “Wild Wild West” and the feel-good classic that is “Summertime”. 

Now that he’s conquered Hollywood, it seems the Men in Black star is intent on returning to music, with the EDM scene his destination of choice. And so it is that we’ve been introduced to his new track, ‘Get Lit’, a big-room collaboration with Jazzy Jeff that’s unlikely to go down in the history books...

Revealed recently at UK’s Livewire Festival, the track is pretty standard EDM, with its ‘get lit!’ hook about as exciting as it gets. Smith introduced the track at the festival, saying, “I wanted to make a song that allowed people to let their light shine. We all have an inner light and sometimes this world... people can say stuff to you and tell you you can’t do and you know you can but when they tell you that it kinda knocks you down a bit right so I wanted to make a record that reminded each and every one of y’all to let your light shine.”
