Q&A: MILLER SOUNDCLASH FINALIST DJ BUSTA-ROW

Over the next few weeks we’ll be profiling the Miller SoundClash finalists; getting to know the DJs who will be flying to Las Vegas to compete for a chance to play alongside Dannic at Drais! Today we are speaking with Japan’s DJ BUSTA-ROW.

Tell us in one sentence who you are and where are you from?

“I’m DJ BUSTA-ROW, from Japan”

Where did your love of music first come from?

“When I was in high school, I just started my DJ career as a band DJ and my enthusiasm for the music was getting bigger and bigger. Then I changed my mind to become a club DJ.”

How long have you been DJing?

“I’ve been spinning 7 years so far, and I produce music too.”

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?

“I’ve been being a resident DJ of V2 Tokyo which is the most famous club in Japan since 2013.”

Tell us about the success as a DJ you’ve had in your own country.

“I’ve spun with Afrojack, TJR, Deorro, Quintino, The Chainsmokers and many world famous artists and finally became a sound producer of V2 TOKYO in 2015.”

How does it feel to win your local Miller SoundClash competition? Tell us about your experience in the competition so far.

“First of all, I just wanna say thank all of you who come over to see my gig. I just had fun the competition and now I feel really happy to go to the next step.”

How much does it mean to you to have made it to this stage of Miller SoundClash?

“I wanted to change my current situation so I decided to join this competition and it increased my motivation.”

How do you plan to stand out over the other DJs in Las Vegas? How will you be preparing for the finale?

“I wanna express my colour which I’ve experienced at my club V2 through my sets. I have something special for the finale but it’s secret!”

What makes you unique compared to the other international finalists?

“All I can say is my ‘guts’!”

Las Vegas is the EDM capital of the USA, with major DJs playing every weekend. If you could meet and hang out with one of these DJs in Vegas, who would it be and why?

“I’m gonna choose Diplo. I love his DJing style.”

How important is it for competitions like Miller SoundClash to give aspiring DJs the chance to show their talent to the world?

"I think it is very precious opportunity for DJs like me who now have the chance to fly to Las Vegas.

Tell us a bit about your home country - how is the electronic music scene where you are from?

“I visited at Las Vegas and Ibiza this year and I felt our music scene is kind of late. So I wanna win this competition and go tour all over the world and change the scene here.”
