PANASONIC UNVEILS PROTOTYPE FOR NEW TECHNICS TURNTABLE

The future of turntables has arrived...

Electronics giant Panasonic has pledged to relaunch and reinvent its iconic Technics turntable series, reported Wired today.

Panasonic presented a prototype for their direct-drive turnable at the IFA press conference in Berlin (pictured above), promising a complete rebuild of the classic Technics design with new elements at every level.

"Turntables are a very iconic product for the Technics brand," Michiko Ogawa, director of Technics and executive officer at Panasonic, said.

"It is important to show our sincere dedication [to that]. The turntable market is very small but it is a very important brand product."

No news yet on what the final version of the new vinyl player will look like, when it will be available or how much it will cost.
