XFM TO REBRAND AS RADIO X WITH CHRIS MOYLES SET TO TAKE BREAKFAST SLOT

XFM is to be rebranded as ‘Radio X’ in a major rebrand of the radio and indie station.

Chris Moyles will return to the air to host the station’s breakfast show, three years after having been ousted from Radio 1. Moyles will go head to head with his replacement Nick Grimshaw (both pictured above), who was hired as part of the Radio 1's bid to attract younger listeners. 

In an interview with The Sun, Moyles declared, “I might be the saviour of digital radio.” The 41-year-old presenter struggled to build an audience online with his, widely derided, YouTube channel and Periscope broadcasts. 

Among the other presenters that have been recruited for the station are Vernon Kay who will cover mid-mornings, Johnny Vaughan at drivetime and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson at weekends.

Last week, longtime XFM presenter Eddy Temple-Morris announced that he would be leaving the station after 15 years. The veteran broadcaster told fans in a Facebook post that he was leaving for “personal” reasons that “shall remain private”. His show The Remix will move over to internet radio station, Soho Radio.

Radio X will be broadcast digitally across the country as well as its previous FM locations in London, Manchester and Scotland.
