SYNTH PIONEER PATRICK COWLEY'S PORN SOUNDTRACKS TO BE RELEASED BY DARK ENTRIES

More gems from the Fox Studio vaults.

A second volume of electronic music pioneer Patrick Cowley’s gay porn soundtracks are to be released by Dark Entries.

Cowley, best known for his work with hi-NRG legend Sylvester and hits like ‘Megatron Man’, was hired by John Coletti, owner of LA-based gay porn company Fox Studio, in the late ‘70s to soundtrack a number of his films.

The recordings Cowley sent over are perhaps some of the most groundbreaking sounds to be used on a porno soundtrack, made during his time at the Electronic Music Lab, which he co-founded at the City College of San Francisco.

According to the label, the scores bear the influence of “Tomita, Wendy Carlos, and Giorgio Moroder” and transports the listener to “a world of forbidden vices evocative of Patrick’s time spent in the bathhouses of San Francisco.”

The recordings follow on from a first volume, ‘School Daze’, released in 2013.

‘Muscle Up’ is being released in tandem with an EP of Cowley’s influential Hi-NRG recordings. Listen to samples of both below.
